0 Heritage Restoration / Conservationist

Architectural conservation describes the process through which the material, historical, and design integrity of humanity's built heritage are prolonged through carefully planned interventions. It involves analyzing the structure, the reduced strength of the materials and the changed aesthetic quality; and then proposing interventions for fortification and beautification – in a manner that causes minimum impact to the original. The individual engaged in this pursuit is known as an architectural conservator / conservation architect. Decisions of when and how to engage in an intervention, are critical to the ultimate conservation of the building or a part of it. In some cases, a decision to not intervene may be the most appropriate choice.
