Yet another type of art that goes viral in the digital age – without most of it getting rightly credited to its maker – is hand painting! This is a peek into the handimal world of Guido Daniele – an Italian artist who creates these incredibly realistic looking animal figures – on human hands!! The artist, who also creates trompe l'oeil, both in private houses and public buildings - has also lived in India, in the early seveties, studying at Tankas school in Dharamsala!

The 1950-born award-winning artist Guido Daniele, lives and works in Milan. Over a career spanning over 40 years, Guido has done commercial/advertising work as well as group and solo exhibitions around the world.

Since 1968 he has been painting and participating to personal and group art exhibitions. After graduating from the Brera School of Arts (major in sculpturing) in 1972, Daniele traveled to India and attended the Tankas school in Dharamsala, staying here till 1974.

In 1972 he started working as hyper-realistic illustrator, in co-operation with major editing and advertising companies, using and testing different painting techniques.

Since 1986 he has been working and improving his personal usage of airbrush: he paints back-stages in different sizes (the biggest ones can be 400 square metres) for artistic and advertising pictures, television commercials and TV programmes.

In 1990 he began to explore the art of body and hand painting. He shapes the model’s hands/body into the desired form and then starts rendering the form with extremely realistic textures and colours.

In 2000 he created the Handimals’ series – that won international acclaim. This series saw Daniele paint highly detailed and realistic renditions of the animal/bird/reptile he has visualized. The living canvas thus lends itself to creating an amazing array of creatures – wondrously realistic and stunning to behold.
