Hafele-TFOD Profile Of The Week: Ar. Ketan Jawdekar

An advocate of the belief that architecture is comparable to poetry, or music –as each piece is a unique creation arising from the application of patterns and generative principles to create a harmonious composition – Ketan Jawdekar has over two decades of experience in the field of architecture and interior design. His tangential thinking and the abstract approach towards design have won many accolades and have delivered some of the world- class projects. Apart from architecture, his interests, passions and hobbies cover a wide spectrum – from painting, to theatre, acting, direction, and even photography – and he has also won acclaim in all his creative pursuits. 

Studio K 7, as a firm, has evolved its own design philosophy; consciously using a fusion aesthetic language. As of now Ketan is happy to have contributed to the number of Indians winning international awards! “Our designs infuse traditional Indian elements in a contemporary design-base. This imparts an international look and yet the local context and identity are not lost. These design principles and ideology were most appreciated by the international jury,” says Ketan, Founder and CMD, Studio K-7 Designs Pvt. Ltd.

His academic excellence, combined with an innate sensitivity to perceive the site, the brief and the client’s aspirations, along with optimum utilization of available resources - help Ketan enhance aesthetics and structural combinations. With innovation and creativity as the mainstay of the studio, each space gets treated more as a work of art; getting its own identity and exclusivity. Good design, according to him, is a combination of Desire, Enthusiasm, Simplicity, Innovation, Grace and Necessity. Drawing inspiration from Nature, the studio has successfully delivered unique and exclusive ‘fusion’ architectural and interior experiences to the clients’ satisfaction.
 

Winning six A’ Awards last year and two again this year is no mean feat. More recently, he won an Honorable Mention in International Design Awards! And even the passionate artist in him is now getting international acclaim. His series of Paintings based on the Osho quotes on Love and Celebration won him an A’ Award too, in the 2014 cycle!! As an artist, Ketan demonstrates a deeply philosophical side of his personality - and creates abstracted versions of thoughts and emotions, through a powerful interplay of colours and strokes!
