The beauty of artistic expression is in the way the artists bare their soul in the piece they are working on, in the work of art they create. That becomes the primary reason for each artist’s signature style – as their art absorbs all they have – with their roots, talent, ideology and aspirations. The art-work explicitly manifests as a single product – but implicitly contains ideas, thoughts, opinions, impressions, and beliefs. The art is the artist’s voice; a mirror for his soul.

Heeral Trivedi, the Baroda-based artist has a lovely and unique style of painting. Her works have a meditative and magical quality, a surreal feel. Close to nature, having many depictions of flora and fauna; amid tranquil pastel backgrounds; and floating, cloudy scenarios – all characterize her preferred style. Abstract – but not quite as indistinguishable as abstract often gets; Heeral’s style is a tangential journey from what she would have imbibed in her growing years.

Filled with birds or fish, trees or twigs, flowers or motifs – Heeral’s work reflects a quest. Much like a flowing river, her mind is eternally on a soul-searching journey, relentless but peaceful. There is no strife or turmoil, no anger or conflict – but the quest is on. A rather surprising element present in most of her work is the Taj Mahal. At times partially hidden beneath the flowing river, at times clearly seen with the fish, sometimes repeating itself or sometimes barely perceptible – the easily identifiable silhouette of the world-famous monument makes it presence felt!

Heeral's recent series of paintings depict household chores and items of daily use; floating around in the same style, amid ethereal settings and intriguing schemes. Her typical motifs and emblems float around activities such as Cooking, Cleaning, and Housekeeping!

The Fine Arts Faculty of Baroda has a rich heritage of veritable masters like Bhupen Khakhar, N. S. Bendre, Govindrao Nimbalkar, Jyoti Bhatt, Jeram Patel, Vivan Sundaram, Chintan Upadhyay, Nagji Patel, Rekha Rodwittiya, Rini Dhumal, and of course, Raja Ravi Verma!. It is indeed heartening to see young talent carrying on the tradition and legacy of the Baroda School. It is a great pleasure to see young artists showcase their talent on the Art Gallery on The Future Of Design

Based in Baroda, and working as a contemporary artist since almost two decades, Heeral exhibits her work in solo shows as well as group shows in India and abroad. We at The Future Of Design celebrate her talent as also appreciate her participation on the portal – which intends to bridge the gap between the art & design fraternity and the end-users!!
