Architects Yash and Rachita Patel set up their own design studio ergo d novate with an aim to deliver innovative design solutions which optimize human well-being and overall system performance. A sharp aesthetic sense complements sound business acumen – and this has seen the studio make a foray in the retail sector of home décor accessories, as well! Ergodnovate – a retail outlet in Anand is where they sell their products. Their smart and informative Profile on The Future Of Design – which bags the TFOD Profile Of The Week!

A new era has dawned in Indian design – which encompasses a much larger geographical and demographic sector. The previously dismal design awareness has been replaced by a much heightened sensitivity and refined sensibility about design – and also for the need for hiring professional help! The benefits of this rising trend are reaped by the present generation of designers practicing in smaller towns! One such studio is “ergo d novate” – a firm based out of Vallabh Vidyanagar, near Baroda in Gujarat. Describing itself as “a creative global firm with the mantra of providing user friendly innovative design solutions mainly concentrating in environmental and industrial design” - the studio founded by architect duo Yash and Rachita Patel is at the helm of some fine projects in Gujarat.

For Yash, choosing a career was probably not a choice – being a third generation architect, hailing from a design-oriented business-family! After pursuing bachelors in architecture in 2006, Yash went on to acquire practical knowledge and expertise in all aspects of architecture and matters related to building construction work. He approaches all design problems with a view to create contextual, climatologically responsive and client-friendly solutions, with due stress on systematic execution.

Rachita took a degree in architecture and later went on to pursue post-graduation from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad in the field of Industrial Design, specializing in Ceramic & Glass Design. She loves to explore materials and their properties. She conceives and creates contemporary designs and produces artifacts, using a variety of materials like glass, ceramic, terra cotta, stone, Plaster of Paris, wood, metals, and fabrics; and different techniques too. The products besides being used in the interior projects handled by the studio are sold in a retail outlet called Ergodnovate in Anand. Moreover, they participate in and sell their products at Vanity Fair, Whispering Willows, a high-end exhibition held annually in Chandigarh.

The architects’ knack of understanding inherent spatial dynamics – of the interplay of form and colour, tone and texture, light and shadow – manifests in all the projects they showcase on TFOD! Rich colours are enhanced by luxurious materials, and serene spaces brought to life with stylish accessories in the studio’s interior assignments. Whether the remodeling of a seven-bedroom 8000 sq ft mansion or a retail or hospitality project, the design approach centers around their commitment to deliver the optimal design solution.

The Future Of Design applauds the young firm’s philosophy and focus, versatility and vision - and wishes the designer duo much success in the years ahead.
