Focused on innovation, the design team at SPA led by principal architect Sunil Patil thrives on the constant urge to create beautiful architecture that addresses the studio’s fundamental concerns as well as satisfies the clients’ dreams and aspirations.

Since the inception of the firm, every project coming from the portals of SPA demonstrates their inclination towards nature, their sensitivity towards the people who would be using the building as well as their responsible use of materials and resources. Residential architecture has been the mainstay of the work of SPA - however, recent years have seen them make significant inroads in the public/institutional sector! Today, over two decades down the line - the journey of SPA can be seen as  a prolific one; dotted with much acclaim.

Ar. Sunil Patil graduated from the University of Kolhapur in 1989. After gaining work experience he started SPA in 1994 – with a clear objective of delivering spaces that not just satisfy the functional needs of the users but shall become their companion in sharing unforgettable moments in their life. While this ideology works best in a home – it may be also be adapted or interpreted with some variations – to public spaces such as corporate offices or government institutions; wherein the idea would be to create bright, airy and enjoyable spaces that ease the pressures of work or make the mundane tasks less taxing. 

A clearly defined ideology certainly contributes to good design – though intuitive honesty and innate spontaneity marks all of SPA’s works! “We approach our designs from different perspectives which enable us to innovate, make optimal use of the space by blending together two core necessities of a world class designs - creativity and modern technology,” elucidates the architect. “But the primary aim is to build in a way that creates minimal interventions with nature.”

The diversity in the SPA portfolio is the most notable however; and their creative designs are complemented by prompt and effective project management strategies. With the VVIP circuit house in Pune making waves recently (Cover Pic and pics: 2.3), a winery (pic: 12) , a convention centre (pic:13), stunning townships (pic:10 & pic:14) and beautiful homes all over Maharashtra (pics: 4-9 &11)and a plethora of prestigious projects under construction such as the collector’s office in Pune, a mall in Kolhapur, the state government’s sales tax offices in Pune and Mumbai (pic:15), and many bungalows and apartment buildings – the SPA portfolio indeed carries an exciting potpourri of projects.
