Set in the Garden of Five Senses, Marut Sikka’s daytime cafe was turned into an evening sit-down named Magique. The brief was to create a unique indoor-outdoor experience which took advantage of the available setting and delivered a surreal ambiance.
The design response was aimed at creating a warm and inviting environment adorned with bright lanterns, fairy lights and romantic swings. 35% of the restaurant was taken up by the windows with a small water body surrounded by seating clusters created outside. A continuous wooden bench framed this outdoor space. The design dialogue is an assimilation of several objects, such as the fountain, the cluster of tables and the rugs. Old woollen ‘killims’ were made to hang on the wall and drape down till the seating to provide a warm and comfortable experience. The existing columns were availed to incorporate into the entire design scheme that centered on essaying an informal feel to the restaurant. The bar and restaurant serves Indian and European cuisines across their alfresco terrace and dining hall.
